General FAQs

No. To view most Local Broadcast channels, you do not need any special equipment—great for connecting every TV in your home to the most popular channels. A digital receiver is needed to receive any digital or premium channels included in your subscription. In order to receive HD channels, you will need an HD receiver or DVR.

Yes. Digital Cable channels can have a clearer picture and sound than analog cable channels.

The Digital Music channels are a feature we offer in select cable TV subscription packages which offer interruption-free, CD-quality music in a variety of genres. This service requires digital equipment.

Troubleshooting FAQs

Most video issues can be resolved by checking your digital receiver connections and the settings on your TV. For more information on the optimal receiver connection setup for your equipment, please see our equipment page.

  • Make sure the remote control batteries are good.
  • Point the remote control directly at the Wave digital receiver when changing channels.
  • Make sure that, if you’re trying to change channels, the CBL button lights up.
  • Make sure you have properly programmed the remote control.

  • Make sure the unit is properly plugged into an electrical outlet.
  • Make sure all cables are properly connected.
  • Try turning the receiver on via the power switch on the box, instead of using the remote.
  • If a wall switch controls the electrical outlet, make sure the switch is in the ON position.

Please double check that you have entered the correct code. Try the automatic programming feature on your remote to cycle through all the codes until you find one that works.

Weak batteries may cause the remote to only operate one device or to operate intermittently. Replace weak batteries with new alkaline batteries.

Finally, make sure that nothing is blocking the signal from the remote control to the TV or digital receiver. Make sure you are pointing the remote control at the correct device and that the correct corresponding device button on the remote has been selected.

  1. Press the menu button twice on the remote.
  2. Find and select the Setup menu using the remote arrow keys (you may need to scroll down) then press OK/Select on the remote.
  3. Find and select the Cablebox setup sub-menu using the remote arrow keys and then press OK/Select on the remote. support-Menu_SetupMenu2
  4. Under Front LED Display, use the right or left arrow key(s) on the remote to change the option to Current Time or Current

*The LED display is not available on all Cable Box models including TiVo models.

  • Make sure the remote is pointed at the cable box and has a clear line-of-sight to the cable box.
  • Make sure the remote is in cable mode by pressing the cable button and making sure it lights up.
  • The remote may need new batteries or may be damaged and/or need to be replaced.
  • Power cycle the box by unplugging the power cord on the back of the cable box for 10-30 seconds and then plugging it back in.
    • The DVR and Video On Demand (VOD) functionality may take up to 10 minutes to return.
    • The guide will show TBA for up to 1 hour as it re-downloads the guide content from our servers.
  • If none of the above works, contact technical support or visit your local Wave store to have one of our friendly Wave employees help with your equipment.

A sun outage is an interruption in satellite signals caused by interference from solar radiation. Satellites transmitting cable networks can be affected by solar interference as they align with the sun. Sun outages may cause the video on a few channels to break up into blocks for a period of a several minutes. Afterward, the picture usually goes back to normal on its own.

This phenomenon can happen twice a year—before the March equinox (February and March) and after the September equinox (September and October). Sun outages only affect cable service, internet and phone services are not affected.
