Sherri started a program for special needs adults in our community, who don't have the opportunities to engage in activities outside their home, once they are no longer in a school setting. They group meets every Saturday to participate in Dance, Music, Theatre and Art. The group has grown SO much in the first two years, they have two sessions of classes now, and are looking for a bigger space to rent. These incredible Special Hearts have performed at City Hall, Harbor Playhouse, and several other venues. Each individual has their own gifts to share and have brought incredible joy to the volunteers who help every weekend. Sherri also has a monthly fun night to celebrate birthdays and other milestones. She selflessly gives her time to do community outreach, in hopes of creating awareness, and to acquire funds to keep the group going.

Kirk is a police officer for the city of Corpus Christi. Everyone in the department has worked tirelessly during this pandemic. Officers have not been allowed to take any vacation time or personal days off. Kirk finished his Master's of Theology degree in December, and I was planning a graduation reception for him to be held in May, but that has been postponed until August. I am hoping to be able to recognize him for all of his hard work of completing his degree while working full time for the police department. Kirk is a very modest guy, but deserves to be recognized for always helping others. He is an army veteran, and previously worked for the Sheriff's department before transferring to Corpus Christi Police Department in 2006.

Our pastor, Ruben, is very dedicated. He is always helping others. During this time he serves the community with free groceries every Thursday and blesses other churches as well. He hardly takes days off and always takes time to help others and he hardly gets paid.

Heather is the Executive Director for a non-profit providing food to hungry children. She rose to the challenge to see that every student on the free and reduced lunch program received meals while school has been shut down in the Frisco ISD area. Countless hours with community support she led the cause.

Joli is an amazing transplant nurse. Since COVID, she has had to round on the COVID floor where they do not have PPE for anyone but the nurses and doctors. She now changes sheets, helps bath, toilet and feed patients in addition to her normal job. Her transplant floor is now a step down unit for the ICU, but not staffed like an ICE. Last Saturday she worked from 7:00am-9:00pm helping her patients. Her husband was furloughed, so she is also picking up extra shifts. She also now must social distance at home from her husband and daughter and wear a mask at all times. She does this all with a smile. It is amazing.

We had our second child late last year and knew my mom, Carol, wanted to help but we could've never imagined how incredible she would be to us once the Coronavirus pandemic swept our nation. After my son's preschool closed and my husband started working from home, she now drives 3.5 hours twice a week to come stay with us and help with the baby. It's tough to keep a 3 year old out of daddy's "office", but with my mom here to help, she makes me feel like this is all just a bit more manageable. She has truly been my hero and we're all so lucky to have her!

Darin is a man who is always looking for ways to inspire hope in people. He is there to get medicine for people, to help cut down trees that have fallen from the storm, to make phone calls to just let the people know that he's there and he cares. His first word is "what can I do for you". Darin is always thinking outside the box. He created a picture of HOPE out of cars in the parking lot and sent it out to inspire hope in those that aren't getting out in this time of pandemic. He had signs made so as people drove by homes or businesses they would see HOPE. Darin intentionally does what it takes to inspire HOPE in people. He gives 110% of himself. His words are always what can I do for you.
