My hero is my mother Carmen. She is one of the strongest, kindest people I've ever known. She has a heart of gold, a full loving caring heart. Sometimes she gives that love to those that don't even deserve it, but she never shies away or denies that loving caring heart no matter what. She saved me as a newborn baby. She took me in as her own when my own biological mother gave up on me, she filled those shoes even though she didn't have to. She dealt with all my goods as well as my bads, even through her own problems being sick most of her life and getting sicker with lupus and many other medical issues, she remains the same caring loving protector I have always known and witnessed. For that, I'm forever grateful and forever she will be MOM and my HERO. Thank you mom, you're such an inspiration I couldn't have it any other way.

In many people's eyes, Kathy is deemed a local hero as she works in the 911 call center. Kathy is a key first responder and is on the front lines working tirelessly and supporting everyone in the community. I would like to nominate Alissa as an RCN Everyday Hero. Alissa is in her residency program. She has been caring for COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 patients in the global epicenter of the pandemic. She works day and overnight shifts and never says no when asked to come in for an extra round. Below is a photo of her during a somber moment on the phone with her sister at the hospital a couple of weeks ago. It does not stop there with Alissa's selflessness and generosity. Unfortunately, both her parents passed away in the last eight months due to prolonged and chronic health issues. While a med student and into her residency program, Alissa returned home to take care of them every weekend. It was remarkable. The bottom of the story is this: We all need an Alissa in our lives. I am lucky and grateful to call her family, and sincerely hope you award her with one of these gift cards and free Internet potential. She deserves it!

I am nominating my brother Joel because in times like these he shows up to work every day and keep us safe. He's a police officer who despite all the dangers the Coronavirus brings he is not stopping and continues to do the job.

Alexis is a nurse at a nursing home that has a lot of COVID patients. She also has family members that have the virus. Every day she goes to work and helps take care of these patients that she loves so much. She's the most passionate, loving, caring person I know who would do anything for her patients and family. She is my personal hero and I love her so very much. She is deserving of the chance to win. She is on the front lines and is the best nurse I know.
