Bert is a local hero because he is the mechanic shop foreman at the local dealership. The shop hasn't closed, and he's been going in to work every day to keep the shop running. As shops in other areas have closed, his has had to take on more work to repair vehicles for essential services, like ambulances, for more customers than normal. The dealership has even started delivering vehicle purchases to customers and he has helped make that happen. Even with many people staying home, there are still many essential vehicles driving on the roads, and Bert has been helping them stay running!

I am nominating my dad, because he puts his life on the line everyday as a sheriff's deputy. He is the selfless and kind to those who need it.

Tim lives across the street from 3 elderly couples. He works two jobs. But never fails on trash day he goes out after the trash truck leaves and puts up his neighbors trash cans for them. He is a neighbor that is always willing to help. He is so special in our neighborhood.

Hayley is a behavioral specialist. Before that, she taught Special Ed students at a High School. She volunteers for special Olympics, a Night To Shine, Pre-Prom, as well as other events. She is always willing to give a helping hand. Since school was cancelled, she has been teaching her two kids ages 9 and 4, as well as her brother’s two kids ages 8 and 4. She has daily virtual meetings with teachers and other BISD employees as well as ARD meeting. She teaches, feeds, entertains and cleans up after four young children all the while doing her school job too.

I got home around 11pm a few days ago and my house was hotter than outside. With a 4 year old son, I was worried. I know he can sleep in it, but would sleep better if it was cooler. I called a repair service immediately. Without hesitation, Rick told me he would be there in less than 30 minutes. He fixed the AC quickly. He also did not charge extra for coming to my house after hours. My son woke up happy and cool! As a father, this is extremely appreciated!

When I was arrested and was losing my house, Regi packed all my stuff up, put it in storage, and even cleaned the house before leaving. Regi looked out for me and saved my possessions. Regi definitely deserves to be called a Hero.
