John is a great single father with no help from the mother.

I nominate my grandmother Liz as my hero. The most selfless person you will ever meet who only looks for the good in people and tries to give as much as possible. She raised my siblings and I from practically birth after our parents didn't see fit. She never asks for anything in return. She's taught me how to be responsible and respectful and how to have a good life by being a good person. Taught me everything my parents should have and so much more, she is the smartest person I know. She is also the strongest person I know. After beating cancer she's come back stronger than ever. She's housed my siblings and I and took us in as her own even when she didn't need to. She's helped me get my own apartment, helped me fill it with furniture and food. She is the most beautiful person and has the most beautiful soul and deserves not only the world but more. I've never had more respect for anyone, as she is literally a walking angel. What do you do when you want to give someone the universe but you can't? You talk about how courageous and loving they are in a raffle in hopes that they can win something because they absolutely deserve it and more. I have no other family, just my gran and she means the world to me. I couldn't be more grateful to her in my life. She's my grandmother but she's also my mom, dad, sister, my aunt, and my best friend. I Love the heck out of her and couldn't be more thankful.

Doug is my husband and my hero for 40 years. He keeps me safe and gets me through everything. He has especially been my hero during these trying times of Covid 19. His encouragement and calmness has been more helpful to me than any other, he is my hero always.

Prior to the Shelter in Place directive came from our Governor, our neighbor across the street, Heather, began checking on several of us nearby who are 'senior' citizens. Heather works a Hospital and had her hands already full just trying to stay safe herself. PPE and masks were in short supply. Plus she had her own 'senior' family members in the area that she helped care for. With an overload of work, she would inquire of what any of us nearby needed. Grocery stores were already out of toilet paper, etc. but she was making sure any health or other things needed were taken care of. Many like Heather have stepped up to do similar things but her story wasn't in the news. She was the silent worker helping others in a tense health crisis. We thank her for her caring concern.

I nominate myself because being a truck driver often gets overlooked. Every day we're driving to keep things moving, to keep stores stocked, to keep medical supplies coming, and a lot of times that is not recognized.

Faith is the executive director of our nonprofit. She has continued to keep doing her job, keeping all 50 club members aware of what's going on. At the same time, she volunteers every week, two days a week, with the food bank. She gets no pay for any of the activities mentioned above.

Times are tough and many parents are struggling to keep their children safe and healthy. I have two daughters and my youngest (17 months) has cortical blindness and many other health conditions. Vicki is my daughter's physical therapist. We video visit with Vicki twice a week and she has been our rock. She constantly reminds me that I am doing a great job and she is a constant reminder that I am not alone. As a single mom struggling to work, attend college, and raise two girls it gets tough, and right now it's very overwhelming. She texts me constantly to remind me that she believes in me. She is a great therapist and many families in Central Texas get to experience her compassion and love. She is my rock, my guardian angel, and my support system and I am forever grateful! It is so hard having a toddler with special needs but Vicki works day and night to continue supporting and giving resources to her families no matter what it takes out of her. I can't imagine our lives without Vicki!

My father Guillermo always taught me right from wrong and goes out of his way for everyone. Even if it's the last shirt on his back he'll offer it. He helped me raise my son and taught him the same morals, respect and responsibilities.

Mohammed is a doctor saving thousands of lives at a Medical center in Downtown, helping patients fight Covid-19 selflessly.
