My son Syncere is 16 years old and he is working at least 25 hours a week at a local gas station. He enjoys going to work and being called an essential Worker. He wants to do more for the community but at a young age, limited resources and school work it is difficult for him. On top of all that I am not working. I am a Teacher Assistant working for what they are calling a Covid 19 Hotspot location in Jersey City New Jersey. I usually work the morning program, lunch program and after school program just to help survive but now it's just my regular salary. So with that said, Syncere really feels that he needs to be working. He is such a smart, respectful, cool kid who gets along with everyone and deals with everything. This is why I say Syncere is not only the Local Hero but my hero as well.

Jen is a CNA at a Nursing Home. She works with COVID patients every day. Since it's a facility mainly for elderly patients, she encounters death and dying on a daily basis. Although they can only see Jens's eyes, she shows her caring through her voice & touch. She then comes home and helps take care of us, also elderly handicapped people. She's always been my hero, but even more now.

All the Nurses on the 11th floor of the Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston Ma. They are serving all emergency and urgent care patients who during this crisis still need careful, professional, and compassionate care. I had both my eyes operated on and didn't know if I would be able to see once the bandages came off. These nurses helped me overcome my fears, and deal with all the usual bodily needs while in their care. When I was discharged I found a wonderful greeting from all the nurses congratulating me and wishing the best as I go forward with my situation. They are everyday heroes and should be so recognized.

My name is Juanita, I am 70 yrs old and I'm on disability, I use a walker to get around I need assistance with many things in my life. I am nominating my son Vincent he is 47 yrs old and disabled, he uses crutches to get around also, but my son cooks, clean for me, he takes me to my doctor appointments, waits for me and takes me back home. He takes me to and from church, gives me front door service. He is a son that other moms wish they had. He has given up a lot for me. He took a birthday vacation trip to Florida and the next day I got very ill. He came home the very next day to take care of me. He canceled his trip for me. My son has given me birthday parties with limousines rides in the past to birthday dinners with family and friends. He has given to family, friends, and church members in the past for mother's and father's day. He just does for people without any thought of being repaid. He also cooks and helps out neighbors in our building. My son has assisted his brothers David and Raymond with so much also. He helps me with David who is mentally challenged by taking him his packages every two weeks. He also has helped his brother Raymond with his children by making sure they had Christmas and birthday gifts, also making sure some of his children have school clothes. My son is a true hero in my life. He will do anything for anybody if he's able. Truly he should be made a home town hero.

Thank you, Bernard.

"Thank you, Bernard."

I along with many others have always admired Annette for her dedication to the human race. She has been a Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit for 42 years now and is now assigned to the Covid-19 patients in her unit. She works tirelessly to care for these patients and takes care of them like they are her own family and friends. She works overnights and raised 2 children, regardless of how exhausting mentally and physically her job is, she still managed to drive her children to countless school sports and activities when they were growing up. When my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, Annette pulled through like always and found my mom the top care enabling my mom to have 9 extra months here on earth which is truly priceless. There are not enough thank you's I can give her for what she has done so selflessly. Annette has had her own mountains along the way to climb but somehow still puts everyone else first! She is truly one of a kind and will always have a place in many peoples hearts ❤️
