Wall of Local Heroes

Home > Wall of Heroes

Here are all the stories of local heroes in our community. Thank you to all nominees!

My husband, Aaron, has always put other people before him. He always makes himself available to help family, friends and those in need. He has been a first responder in many car accidents and has stabilized people in critical need until paramedics arrive. During this pandemic, he has offered physical labor and trips to go to grocery store for his community. He is unaware I am submitting this entry. He would probably ask me not to do it as he is so humble and never expects anything in return. I want to do something for him because I feel he is very deserving of this! Thank you.

My wife Grace is a a Home Health Care Registered Nurse (RN) who is also taking care of my 93 year old Mother and her 93 year old roommate. She is also taking care of me a 100% Disabled Vietnam Veteran and one of our sons who is living with us and not to forget our little elderly rescue dog who needs medication etc. on a daily basis. Grace makes sure Mom and her friend have hot meals prepared especially for them with snacks and desert and all of the necessities that sheltering in place require. She does all these things with a smile on her lips and Love in her heart while taking care of us at home, working full time and being a Senior herself.

She works for a homeless shelter and spends her free time helping individual clients. Just yesterday should brought groceries to a homeless woman who was struggling with suicidal thoughts and sat talking with her for hours. She's the most hard-working and compassionate human being I've ever met.

Rose Patterson she is awesome mom. She will 90 years old on Sept 9 2020!
She was married over 50 years , yes to my awesome father who pass away. She raised nine children, she had 11 grand kids, 23 great grand children, and 5 great great grand children. She always worked very hard she is the cord to our family. Our mom Rose has been through tough times, with the loss of our father and 3 of her children and grand and great grand children. She always kept her faith and great love for her family. Because of such a large family we did not go to fancy vacation places, but we did a lot of camping with family and friends. Awesome memories!! As a family we enjoy cards, swimming hiking! just spending time together. She prays for us all the time. I thank God for her, she helped us kids ( now adults) to establish and help us grow in our faith. So there is much more, so I nominate my mom Rose Patterson she is our FAMILY local hero!!

Ashley is my wonderful sister-in-law. She is a mother, RN, friend and wife. She is also 7 months pregnant and continues stay positive despite such uncertain times. She is a labor and delivery nurse at the local hospital. If they are slow, she can be pulled to any department. She comes home and takes care of her adorable, busy 1 y/o on her days off. She is running on little sleep, lots of hormones and lots of love and compassion for her family and community. I am nominating her because we all need a gentle pat on the back and acknowledgement of our efforts.

Henry is a true hero. He serves the community as a community organizer with a simple intention of bringing people together. In response to COVID19 he is on the front lines serving the International District Chinatown community by providing over 900 bags of fresh produce & groceries to the elderly and low-income families in the neighborhood. Not only has his actions keep the community fed, but he has also brought city departments, neighborhood organizations, and community volunteers tighter together in expressing what the community should be like - a community that cares for one another.
Henry has gained a lot of local attention for his efforts, but hasn't been rewarded in anyway to reflect his efforts. This would be a nice token of appreciation for him.
