I am nominating Adam because he works the front line as a physical therapist. Early on in the epidemic, Adam contracted the Coronavirus. He has since recovered and returned to work to continue caring for his patients, even though many are ill with the coronavirus.

Diane is a nurse at a nursing home and has volunteered to work on the COVID unit. She is working from 3 am to 3 pm. She gives loving care to an elderly population that already have so many difficult health problems and are already spending many long and lonely hours. Diane is a wonderful neighbor and I thank her for giving to others and pray for her health and safety.

I'm a healthcare worker going to work every day to save lives.

My hero is my sister Mary. She has been my hero through this entire pandemic. Mary is an Occupational Therapist at a rehab facility. Through this frightening time, she and the group she works with have had to adjust as supplies were not available, information was changing daily and their patients were succumbing to COVID 19; the numbers were staggering. We talk to each other most days and I could hear the exhaustion and sadness in her voice. Here is an example of what I am trying to express. When the per diem staff was coming back to work, her first thought wasn't about herself and getting some time off, it was about preparing the per diem staff for the number of patients who had lost their lives to COVID 19. THAT is my sister in a nutshell. She won't be psyched that I wrote this but she is my hero. When we talk about Front Line Workers, we usually think of doctors, nurses, police and fire but there are so many more. Mary, along with her coworkers, showed up every day and cared for their patients despite the fear of the unknown. The definition of bravery is the ability to be afraid but still move forward.

I am nominating Erika, my daughter. She is currently working as an RN for the hospital ICU Stepdown section. Erika is a married mother of 2 children ages 8 and an 8-month-old infant. Her husband has been laid off by his employer. Her dedication and work ethic is beyond exceptional! She is truly a superhero! Just to nominate her, is wonderful! She has not taken off from work and continues to be a full-time mother and wife through this time.

Maicon has been working nonstop for food delivery services in NY and NJ! He's my great friend and I worry for him, however, and besides the danger, he doesn't stop and also has to make ends meet and lost his previous job. Every time I text him and ask "are you okay!?" He sends a picture! And there he is, inside a supermarket shopping for our community. Biweekly, he also visits me and we sit outside for a bit chatting, with social distance, and he brings me treats :) Thank you Maicon!

I would like to nominate my son, Hunter, for the everyday local hero. My son is 19 years old and a freshman in college. His major is Business and American Sign Language (which he is unbelievable at it). With this whole pandemic of the Covid 19 virus, my son had to move back home from college and picked up more hours at the supermarket, his employer. He has been working there for the past 4 years and is a manager and also works in the HR department at times. He has been working a lot of hours and he is exposed to the public all the time. Which means he has been exposed to Covid 19 without even knowing it. With the supermarkets running out of items every day, and people yelling at him like it's his fault, he still smiles at the customers and continues his workday. I always remind him to wear a mask and gloves while at work. It's not just the healthcare workers that are being exposed, it's my son and I worry about him. As a mother, you always want the best for your child. If your child gets sick, you want that sickness, so your child doesn't have to suffer. For my son, he may be stressed, tired and worried and he is exposed more than anyone else for others. Even though I am a nurse and I am exposed to this covid every day, My son is my hero. Looking at what my son does every day, I give him credit and love him so very much!!!
